Designing Policies for Job and Business Formalization in the MENA Region (PJB)
October 6th to 19th, 2025
The course is delivered by a team of OECD and international experts. The initial sections of the course will provide the necessary elements to analyze and understand the root causes of the informal economy and its impact on the overall economy and society. They will include the presentation of definitions of informal businesses and informal labor and methodologies for measuring the informal economy. The course will then discuss best practice policy for labor and business formalization, covering policies on business regulation, taxation, labor market and social protection, and innovate mechanisms, such as leveraging on the social economy to promote formalization. Country studies of best practices for the formalization of employment and micro and small enterprises will be presented.
