CEF Event on The Outlook for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Policy Priorities

The IMF-Middle East Center for Economics and Finance (CEF) hosted an event titled "The Outlook for the Gulf Cooperation Council and Policy Priorities" on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at its premises. The event featured a distinguished speaker from the IMF, Mr. Zeine Zeidane, Deputy Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department (MCD), and a select audience comprising representatives from the public and private sectors, civil society (including academia and think tanks), and international organizations.

Mr. Paulo Drummond, Director of the CEF, delivered opening remarks, welcoming Mr. Zeidane and participants while emphasizing the event’s objective to foster an open debate on the economic outlook for the GCC region. Mr. Zeidane shared valuable insights into the economic prospects and risks facing GCC countries, highlighting key policy priorities for economic transformation and building resilience amidst a backdrop of high uncertainty.

A Q&A session followed, allowing participants to engage directly with Mr. Zeidane on pressing economic issues for the GCC countries. At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Drummond thanked Mr. Zeidane and the audience for their insightful and engaging discussions.
