Background: This webinar presents insights from recent IMF research, ‘Institutions for Industrial Policy: The Foundation of Economic Development’. Presenters will discuss how successful industrial policy depends on strong institutions, drawing lessons from the Asian Miracles. They will focus on the governance framework, including the role of a leading agency, in building sector-specific knowledge, coordinating policy implementation, and applying the proposed 4A model: Ambition-Agency, Autonomy, Accountability, and Adaptability.
