Webinar on IMF's Regional Economic Outlook for MENA Resilience amid Unertainity - Will it Last?

The International Monetary Fund-Middle East Center for Economics and Finance (IMF-CEF) and the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department (IMF-MCD) held a joint webinar titled “IMF’s Regional Economic Outlook for MENA: Resilience amid Uncertainty – Will it Last?" on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Mr. Sami Ben Naceur, Director of the CEF, delivered opening remarks, and Mr. Basil Awad, Economics Analyst at the CEF, moderated the event.
This seminar focused on the latest economic developments in the Middle East and North Africa, exploring the region’s ability to withstand ongoing global uncertainty. Mr. Roberto Cardarelli (IMF-MCD Assistant Director) discussed the region’s resilience to successive shocks—including trade disruptions and ongoing geopolitical tensions—and outlined the main risks to the outlook. Mr. Bilal Tabti (IMF-MCD Economist) highlighted how post-conflict recovery can be strengthened through rapid macroeconomic stabilization, greater access to financing, and stronger institutions and governance.
The interactive Q&A session engaged a diverse audience from the Arab world, comprised of public sector officials, academics, and representatives of the business community, civil society, and other international organizations.
